This course concentrates on colonoscopy technique. We cover room setup, positioning of the endoscopist and patient and then move to holding and manipulating the scope in an ergonomic manner. The course stresses insertion technique, loop detection and resolution in the setting of live endoscopy with patients undergoing colonoscopy.

• Designed for all practising endoscopists.
• Provides up-skilling and improvement of colonoscopy skills.
• Consists of one (1) day of live endoscopy sessions, with two (2) SEE™ Certified Faculty teaching up to three (3) delegates.
• Is of particular interest to the provincial colon cancer screening programs (endorsed by the British Columbia, Ontario, and Newfoundland programs).
• The CSI Course is a recipient of the 2016 Royal College Accredited CPD Provider Innovation Award.

CSI Course Learning Objectives:

1. To improve individual colonoscopy technique.
2. Increase awareness of safe therapeutic colonoscopy.
3. Familiarisation with endoscopic imager with reference to personal skills development and teaching.

This course concentrates on endoscopy training theory and techniques. It assumes the participant has taken a CSI course and is very comfortable with the SEE™ colonoscopy technique. We aim this course at individuals who are involved with trainees in endoscopy.

• Led by Certified SEE™ Faculty.
• Designed for teachers of endoscopy, with specific aims to improve teaching skills and procedural conscious competence needed to teach endoscopy.
• TET courses run for 1.5 days with two (2) Certified SEE™ Faculty teaching up to six (6) delegates.
• Recommended that the CSI Course is taken prior to the TET Course.

TET Course Learning Objectives:

1. An understanding of objectives (set), learning experiences (dialogue), and evaluation (closure, feedback).
2. An understanding of the evolution of technical skills acquisition.
3. An understanding and consideration for deliberate practice, cognitive load theory and skills deconstruction.
4. Practice teaching (and receiving feedback) in two settings: teaching a specific skill and teaching a real colonoscopy.
5. Acquisition of colonoscopy skills and tips practised during the course, to be applied subsequently to clinical practice.

• 1-day course
  • Half-day didactic lecture (Approach to Polypectomy: Diagnosis of polyps; Polypectomy techniques; Case-based discussion);
  • Half-day practical hands-on session using an ex-vivo porcine model.
• Facilitated by five (5) Certified SEE™ Faculty teaching up to three (3) delegates per station (a total of 15 delegates per course).

EPIC Learning Objectives:

1. Incorporate standardized endoscopic morphological assessment systems to determine the risk of invasive malignancy, including Paris and NICE Classifications and Kudo Pit Pattern assessment.
2. Decide on the optimal polypectomy technique for different types of polyps (cold biopsy, cold snare, hot snare, endoscopic mucosal resection).
3. Perform successful polypectomy in an en bloc or piecemeal fashion, using proper lifting techniques.
4. Apply hemoclips for hemostasis and/or defect closure.
