GI-MAP: Gastroenterology Mentorship & Advancement Program
CAG is proud to support trainee pathways into the field of gastroenterology though GI-MAP.
First launched as a pilot program in 2025, GI-MAP connects internal medicine and pediatric residents with fellows and senior trainees (PGY-4/5/6) through structured, near-peer guidance at a formative stage in their career development.
How it works
- Mentees and mentors are paired up in June.
- Annual cycle beings July 1 and ends March 1.
- Pairs meet a minimum of twice over the program year, and are encouraged to meet at least once at the CDDW Mentorship Café, if both are in attendance. Beyond that, meeting frequency and format are left to each pair.
- Discussion topics are available to support structured conversations, pairs are welcome to use them or follow the conversation wherever it leads.
Who can participate?
As a Mentee
- Be an internal medicine or pediatric resident interested in pursuing GI as a sub-specialty
- Must have an active CAG trainee membership
Mentee sign up will open in early May 2026.
As a Mentor
- Be a GI fellow or subspecialty resident in PGY-4 to PGY-6
- Must have an active CAG trainee membership
- Must be willing dedicate 4-6hrs over the duration of the program cycle
GI-MAP offers mentors a meaningful opportunity to develop their leadership skills while supporting the next generation of GI professionals — without a heavy time commitment. Designed to be flexible and sustainable, the program makes it easy to share your valuable experience, guide mentee's critical decisions, and inspire confidence, while fostering a strong sense of connection and belonging within the GI community.
