The Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG) works with a number of partners - in the pharmaceutical, manufacturing, food industries, and volunteer health organizations - to advance research, education and patient care in all areas of digestive health and disease.
As a not-for-profit organization, the CAG depends on industry support to help deliver high quality educational programs for Canada’s gastroenterology community. Funding partnerships facilitate the development of education programs, the work of the CAG’s 20+ committees, and help defray some of the costs associated with member services.
Our partners also provide important support to the annual Canadian Digestive Diseases Week™ (CDDW™) conference. Sustained industry support for the conference has helped make it Canada’s premier education, research and networking event for gastroenterologists and researchers.
Industry partners play an integral role in the success of the CAG/Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Industry Research program in which the Government of Canada matches 1:1 all research funds raised by the CAG. One hundred percent of sponsorship dollars raised for this program support GI training and research. The program is a tremendous success, leading to advances in research and innovation, and unparalleled achievements by CAG members in the area of gastroenterological research. Over the past 20 years, more than 400 researchers have benefited from $26M in funding to support research in gastroenterology in Canada.
The relationship between the CAG and its partners has led to the sustained growth and advancement of gastroenterological research and clinical practice in Canada. The CAG and its partners share a goal to work together towards the improved health of Canadians.
