The Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG) is announcing a leadership transition for the Journal of the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (JCAG), as longtime Managing Editor Dr. Paul Sinclair concludes his tenure and Karin Dearness joins the journal as its new Managing Editor.

Honouring Dr. Paul Sinclair's years of service and his lasting impact on JCAG's success.

After many years of dedicated service, Dr. Paul Sinclair is stepping down as Managing Editor of JCAG.

Throughout his tenure, Dr. Sinclair played a pivotal role in the journal's growth and success. He oversaw the editorial workflow for every manuscript submitted to JCAG, coordinated Editorial Board and publisher meetings, supported the onboarding of editors, and managed the reporting and performance metrics that contributed to the journal earning its Impact Factor. His expertise, dedication, and leadership have helped establish JCAG as a respected publication within the gastroenterology community.

Reflecting on Paul's contributions, Editor-in-Chief Eric Benchimol shared:

Welcome, Karin Dearness

Karin Dearness brings extensive experience in medical publishing and journal operations.

CAG is pleased to welcome Karin Dearness as the new Managing Editor of JCAG.

Karin brings a wealth of experience in medical research, scholarly publishing, and journal operations. Prior to joining JCAG, she served for nearly a decade as Managing Editor of the Cochrane Upper Gastrointestinal and Pancreatic Disease Review Group at McMaster University. She has also held senior leadership positions as Associate Director of Information Services at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in the United Kingdom and Director of Library Services at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton.

Karin will work closely with the JCAG editorial team during the transition to ensure the continued success of the journal. We are excited to welcome her to the team and look forward to the expertise and leadership she will bring to this role.
