CAG / UCB / CIHR POST-DOCTORAL FELLOW- FACULTY TRANSITION AWARD

The Canadian Association of Gastroenterology in partnership with UCB Pharma Canada Inc. and the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR) invites applications for the Post-Doctoral Fellow – Faculty Transition Award.

Eligibility and Conditions:
  • Previous, or current, Post-Doctoral to Faculty Transition Awardees are not eligible.
  • Applicant must hold a Ph.D or MD. degree
  • Applicant must have two (2) but not more that four (4) years of post-doctoral research experience at the time of application.
  • The award is for three (3) years.  Award provides salary for one (1) year of post-doctoral research ($44,500 for Ph.D. and $50,000 for M.D. with Canadian Licensure) followed by two (2) years of salary support on faculty at the Assistant Professor level ($50,000).  The award also includes an annual research allowance ($20,000/annum).
  • The post-doctoral and faculty positions can be held at different institutions.
  • Benefits associated with the faculty position will be in accordance with the guidelines of the individual institution and the institution is responsible for payment of such benefits.
  • The award is to be held at a Canadian university or recognized Research Institute and the proposed research can address any aspect of gastroenterology.
  • The award is contingent on a letter of support from a Departmental Chairperson, specifying that the applicant will have a full-time faculty position at the Assistant Professor level for year two and three of the award with 75% protected-time for research and suitable space to conduct the proposed research.
  • The award is not renewable.
Applications will be entertained in all aspects of IBD research.

Applications are made using the appropriate forms on the CAG website (www.cag-acg.org) and must contain a detailed 5 page research plan.  Ten (10) copies must be forwarded to the CAG National Office).  The deadline for completed applications to be received is October 15th.

Applications will be reviewed by the CAG Research Committee in collaboration with the CIHR.
One (1) award will be given, to start July 1st in the year following the application deadline.
