CAG/CIHR/Industry Research Competition
The CAG / CIHR / Industry Research Competition continues to be a very successful and highly sought after funding avenue. To date, more than 165 researchers have been supported via this collaborative Program. This amounts to more than $16 million worth of the highest quality research in the field of Gastroenterology in Canada. Many of the researchers supported via this program have been appointed in clinical and/or academic institutions within Canada and have secured competitive independent research funding from the CIHR and other agencies.
The following funding opportunities are open for the 2011 CAG/CIHR/Industry Research Program

New Investigator Salary Award: Gastroenterology/Nutrition
(applications MUST be sent to the CIHR directly no later than September 15th, 2010)
- The maximum salary amount for a single award is $ 60,000 per annum, for up to 5 years.
- One award is available.
- Funding partners include - CIHR Institute of Nutrition Metabolism and Diabetes in partnership with the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada. (CLICK WEB LINK HERE)

- The maximum award value is $50,000 per annum for Ph.D.'s, and $60,000 for M.D.'s, for up to 2 years. These amounts include an annual research allowance of $5,000. Should the Fellowship be held outside of Canada, an out-of-country supplement of $5,000 per annum will be paid in addition to the regular award.
- 5 fellowships are available for Inflammatory Bowel Disease research

Operating Grant Gastroenterology/Nutrition
(applications MUST be sent to the CIHR directly no later than November 1st, 2010)
- The maximum amount awarded for a single grant is $45,000 per annum for up to 2 years.
- Up to 4 operating grants are available.
- Funding partners include - CIHR Institute of Nutrition Metabolism and Diabetes in partnership with the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology, Abbott, AstraZeneca, Merck,Olympus, CIHR Institute of Nutrition Metabolism and Diabetes, and the CIHR Rx&D Collaborative Research Program.
