Membership Benefits
The CAG offers a wealth of benefits for physicians, nurses, other professionals involved in the care of patients with digestive diseases and for researchers in gastrointestinal health and disease.
Annual Conference - CDDW
In a survey, members rated Canadian Digestive Diseases Week (CDDW) as the most highly valued CAG service, on par with the popular American Digestive Diseases Week meeting. Most CDDW sessions are Category 1 RCPSC accredited, providing physicians with the chance to earn all of their annual RCPSC Maintenance of Certification credits while networking with colleagues. CAG membership confers free or substantially reduced conference registration depending on membership category, and members are the first to be apprised of educational events and other details surrounding the conference.
CAG Accredited Provider Status Achieved in 2002
In 2010, the CAG was again approved for Accredited Provider Status from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (RCSPC) for the Maintenance of Certification program (MOC). As an accredited provider, the CAG has been able to work with physician organizations and industry to develop high quality educational programs and have the programs accredited by a single accreditor with a national reach. As a benefit of membership, CAG members may submit an educational program for review and approval by the CAG Maintenance of Certification Committee at no charge in the instance where the budget does not exceed $10,000 (a charge of $1,000 is applicable to non-member physician organizations).
Professional Education Opportunities
In addition to CDDW the Association provides access to continuing medical education programs including a number of online learning options.
