The Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG) and the Canadian Digestive Health Foundation (CDHF)
We are in the midst of a health crisis
This year, approximately 20 million Canadians suffer from at least one digestive disorder, we will incur $18 billion in healthcare costs and lost productivity, and thousands of people will die unnecessarily. CAG and its foundation, the Canadian Digestive Health Foundation (CDHF), believe this is unnecessary and unacceptable.
Digestive diseases are expensive and debilitating. They burden our healthcare system with significant cost and negatively impact our economy. Wait times are growing while resources are shrinking. A significant proportion of digestive disease is preventable and much of it is treatable, particularly if diagnosed early. Given the alarming rate at which digestive diseases are increasing, the life-changing and often devastating impact digestive disease has on Canadians remains largely underappreciated.
CAG and CDHF – Working together to reform digestive health in Canada
The Canadian Digestive Health Foundation is the public education arm of the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology. In addition to developing educational resources for patients, the Foundation raises funds to support researchers in the field of gastroenterology.
Empowering Canadians to take control of their digestive health
The CDHF is empowering Canadians to take control of their digestive health with confidence and optimism by providing trusted, accessible and accurate information about digestive health and disease. Through its direct connection with the CAG, the CDHF works with leading physicians, scientists and other health care professionals to provide Canadians with practical, science-based information. These resources improve knowledge transfer and communication between physicians and patients.
