The SAGE survey of wait times for digestive and liver disease consultation and procedures was conducted during November 2008.  We would like to extend our thanks to the more than 220 physicians who provided crucial data on over 2300 patients.

Analysis and Reporting of Findings

SAGE will provide data on:

• The waiting time to consultation (time between when the patient was first referred and the specialist consultation)
• The waiting time to procedure (time between the specialist consultation and when the procedure was performed)
• Total waiting time (time between when the patient was first referred and the procedure was performed)

for the 18 pre-identified indications and ‘other’ indications,

• Compares wait times with the targets of the Canadian consensus on medically acceptable wait times for digestive health care
• Provides data on wait times in 2008 for comparison with findings from the 2005 Practice Audit in Gastroenterology (PAGE 4) program, to determine if waits have lengthened, improved or remain unchanged.
