The Moncton Hospital has an opening for a gastroenterologist to join four other gastroenterologists to provide subspecialty services to residents of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and northwestern Nova Scotia.

The Moncton Hospital is a 400 bed facility with a very busy, state of the art GI Unit.  The Division of Gastroenterology provides subspecialty call for GI emergencies, with no general Internal Medicine call required.  The Department of Internal Medicine is affiliated with Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, and is involved with clinical teaching of rotating residents.  CME activities include weekly grand rounds, GI pathology rounds and various journal clubs.  Our GI unit provides all endoscopic modalities including capsule endoscopy, cholangioscopy and EUS.  A new GI unit, part of a $47 million new Ambulatory Care Centre, will open in 2007.

The Department of Internal Medicine requires members to possess certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the examination of la Corporation professionnelle des medicins du Quebec.  In circumstances where no Canadian-trained applicants are available, the Department will consider physicians with American Boards who are able to obtain licensure in the United States.  In special circumstances, foreign graduates who qualify for licensure in the province of New Brunswick will be considered.

Moncton is one of the fastest growing communities in Atlantic Canada and boasts a terrific quality of life.  Educational opportunities, cultural events and easy access to beautiful beaches and national parks are just some of the benefits of the locale.  For a true flavour of the city, visit www.gomoncton.ca, of the hospital www.serha.ca, and of the Ambulatory Care Centre www.serha.ca/serha/ambulatory_care/htm/english/ambulatory.htm.
